FLORIDA KEYS COUNCIL ON THE ARTS
Fifth Annual Key West Writers Guild Award

A grant program of the Florida Keys Council of the Arts.
An award for a writer continuing work in progress:
$2000

The purpose of the award is to enable a talented writer who is a resident of Monroe County to continue a novel or a non-fiction work. Applications will be accepted through March 22,2008. The delivery deadline is March 22,2008. Submit two copies of a manuscript or manuscript excerpt. Excerpts must be 30 pages or more, double-spaced 12-point type only. No manuscripts will be returned. The author's name, phone, mailing address and e-mail address must appear on the cover sheet only. The author's name may not appear in the manuscript either as a part of the heading/footer nor in the body of the work.

The applicant must become a member of the Key West Writers Guild and have read from the manuscript during at least two meetings  through March 22, 2008.

Membership in the Guild is $10 annually. The recipient is expected to report annually to the membership at least twice and complete the work within two years. This grant must be acknowledged appropriately in the finished book.

The Key West Writers Guild Award is supported by private funds and administered by the Florida Keys Council of the Arts. The winner will be announced May 24, 2008 on www.keysarts.com. Funds will be distributed in two installments, the first at the time of the announcement and the second after a satisfactory status report.

Applications should be delivered during a regular meeting held on the second and fourth Saturday mornings at Kelly's Caribbean Restaurant in Key West or mailed to:
